Texas Capitol Extension in Austin, Texas

Charter Builders completed this landmark underground facility for the Texas State Preservation Board. 

Their are two levels of committee hearing rooms, meeting rooms, and offices used by Texas State Senators and Representatives. 

Constructed to the highest standards, the project is completely underground and does not compete with the existing Capitol building. 

Despite being below grade, innovative design provided natural light to all occupied areas.  The building provides a truly inspiring environment to its occupants and to the thousand of visitors who pass through it proudly each year. 

Nominated for the National Build America Award of 1994, the project has received many tributes since it opened in 1992, on schedule and within budget.
